Mandarin Immersion Summer Camp for SFUSD MI students
Note: This program is full. Registration for Summer 2010 is disabled.
CAIS Institute in conjunction with STARTALK will offer a free Mandarin Immersion Summer Camp to those students who qualify. Children entering SFUSD’s K-4 Mandarin immersion program Fall 2010 are eligible to apply. The camp will not only reinforce what they have learned during the school year, but will also extend their language capabilities and introduce them to a wide array of cultural activities to enable them to retain and expand their Chinese learning. The Kindergarten program is only offered in Session II.
During each four week session, students will experience Chinese language and culture through a wide variety of traditional activities such as singing, Chinese calligraphy, brush painting, Chinese arts and crafts, drama and/or martial arts. Language acquisition will come naturally to the students as a result of their participation in these fun, immersion-based activities. More advanced students will be challenged to enhance their language skills through a more intensive level of interaction with their teachers and other students.
Priority registration is given to students who currently receive free or reduced lunch.
