Administrator Workshops

Constructing a Chinese Program

Intensive One-Day Workshops for Administrators
At The Chinese American International School in San Francisco, CA

Our most recent workshop took place Nov 6-7, 2008. We will be announcing future workshop dates soon

Administrators unfamiliar with Chinese language education often have a difficult time navigating their way through a new program. Likewise, administrators who already have a Chinese program might realize that they need additional resources to expand and supplement a growing program. This two-day workshop will serve as a valuable tool for any school administrator, whether they already have a fully functional Chinese program, or are merely exploring the possibility of starting one.

The Administrator workshop guides participants through the process of implementing a Chinese language program step-by-step by identifying challenges and offering realistic solutions. In addition to a tour of the first Mandarin/English immersion program in the country at Chinese American International School, participants will attend hands-on working sessions that teach the essentials for developing successful, sustainable Chinese language programs. Main topics include curriculum building, age-appropriate assessment, qualified teacher candidates, and community support.

"Incredibly valuable, beautifully organized, really designed for the ‘people in the trenches’. I’m going to start now to get my district to fund our participation in the March 2008 Conference. Thank you to CAIS Institute for being a pioneer and for sharing their experience with all of us."
